Buying your first home is a super fun experience if you enjoy stress, uncertainty, and learning 400 new terms in a single month. Luckily for us, we had Anthony Vetrano.

My wife and I were first-time buyers, both working, with a baby at home, and we had approximately zero clue what we were doing. Anthony guided us through the entire process with an incredible mix of patience, honesty, and market knowledge. He helped us figure out what kinds of homes were actually right for us, sorted through listings with us, helped us come up with smart offer strategies, and walked us all the way through closing.

What really stood out was that he was never remotely pushy. A few times we walked into a place and Anthony basically said, “Yeah… no, this isn’t your house,” and then gave us a detailed explanation of why. It was so refreshing to work with someone who clearly cared more about getting us into the right home than just getting a deal done.

His read on the market was also kind of scary-good. He had a great sense for what homes should be worth, how long they’d stay on the market, and where they’d ultimately sell. It made the whole process feel much less like guessing and much more like making informed decisions.

He also has an amazing bench of contacts — inspector, mortgage people, insurance, attorney, etc. — and every person he recommended was sharp, responsive, and helpful.

At no point did we feel pressured to make an offer, rush a decision, or increase our number beyond what we were comfortable with. We always felt supported and well-advised.

Anthony was awesome, and I’d recommend him to anyone buying in Hudson County (or really anywhere in NJ) without hesitation.

We could not be more grateful for the job Anthony did selling our beach house. This was not an easy transaction by any stretch. The buyer was extremely difficult, the process had multiple challenges, and there were moments where lesser agents might have lost momentum or patience.

Couldn’t have asked for a better agent . This was my first time buying a home and using an agent, and I’m so grateful I was lucky enough to stumble on one of his listings when we first started starting looking. Very knowledgeable about the market, super responsive if we ever had questions/needed anything, didn’t try and push us into making offers on places we weren’t 100% sold on, etc. When we did finally find the apartment we loved, he helped us close in line with everything we had hoped for, introduced us to a great lawyer and a lender with very reasonable mortgage rates. Short Review: I am a type A corporate law firm lawyer who cannot stand incompetence/ignorance and I highly (without any reservation) recommend Anthony who helped me buy my first condo. I will go back to Anthony when I upgrade.

Long Review: Have you tried purchasing a condo from a seller whose broker first bombs you daily for updates and then ghosts and gaslights you?... What about whose lawyer has literally gotten his attorney license in NJ revoked by court order twice but then demands that he keeps your title escrow funds in his account on the evening of closing day or he won’t close? Well, I have and we managed to get through this ordeal sane all thanks to Anthony. See below for relevant break-down of my experience.

Showings:
As a law firm lawyer, I can only view properties during the weekends. Anthony never complained and was always available.

Responsiveness:
Anthony will respond to you usually within the hour if not the day. Even if he is doing something else, he lets you know he will respond or call you and sets up a time.

Holiday weekend but the weekend before closing with seller's agent MIA? No worries, Anthony will call you as soon as you raise your concerns/worries, try to chase seller's agent, and/or check in with your lawyer.

Representation in the Search/Offer Process:
Anthony listened to what I wanted - which was to find a condo for the next 5-10 years. Not my dream house but one that ticked all of *my* required boxes. He then patiently showed me (even multiple times) units and buildings that I wanted to see. He never pressured me to make an offer.

And, when I did make offers, he never pressured me to spend more than my desired budget. This was key to me as I was buying in a Buyer's market and I did not want to feel pressured to deal with sellers playing games.

Representation in the Contract – Closing Process (Anthony navigated a hairy and weird situation on my behalf):

As mentioned above, we had to deal with a seller's broker who would email every day about closing and then disappear the week before closing ... along with a lawyer who would try to bully you and, if that did not work, would make strange arguments that were not legally sound. A frustrated day and quick google search revealed that said lawyer had gotten his license revoked by court order twice! As a practicing lawyer (at law firms and startups for approx 8 years), he is the first person I know who has actually gotten his licensed revoked even once... Take it from me, you have to be really negligent and/or breach your fiduciary duty for this to occur.

Anyways, I unknowingly had gotten into contract with this type of counterparty. Had I known to search the lawyer to confirm opposing counsel was minimally competent at time of attorney review (which I recommend you do), I would have RUN. Never work across an attorney who has had their license revoked. It will cost you time, pain and suffering.

Also, since this was my first time buying, I had no idea who to tap for my team for legal representation, inspections, title, etc. Anthony recommended all of my deal team and they have been 100% organized, competent, and responsive (and ethical). Anthony & Team (1) worked over weekends and holidays, (2) were always responsive on a NYC law firm lawyer standard, (3) responded to weird situations without batting an eye (e.g., seller agent disappearances/gaslighting and weird seller lawyer trying to ream through (at 4pm day of closing) a ridiculous off-market demand that he (lawyer who has had license revoked twice!) holds the title escrow funds instead of the title company or we don't close). They were calm and firm in representing my interests and making sure I would not be bullied into agreeing to this demand, which would affect my own title risk and is just legally not sound.

Phew. That is the long of it. Conclusion:
(1) at lawyer review stage, check if seller's lawyer has a history of getting his attorney license revoked (because this is bad); and
(2) if you can, work with Anthony and his team. You’re in good hands.
