“While I’m a proponent of real estate as a valuable asset, it is also the only financial investment which you can live in and enjoy,” Barbara Hindman said. She is an agent with Sotheby’s International Realty in Greenwich. “I have never heard someone waxing poetic about the warmth and comfort of their treasury bond or the beautiful sunsets over the water in their mutual fund. Hindman sees her role as not only a facilitator for her clients, but as a change agent, as well. “I thrive on helping my clients navigate the next phase of their journey,” she explained. “It is rewarding to see a young family move into their first home, or retirees adopt a carefree or adventurous lifestyle made possible by the sale of their house. I do not view real estate as a series of transactions. This business is about building relationships and trust. The greatest compliment is receiving referrals from prior clients.”

Hindman also noted that it is easy to sell Greenwich, a town that she has called home for nearly three decades, where she raised three children. She has been active in the school system, has volunteered for many community causes, and is a 20-year elected member of the Representative Town Meeting. “Explaining the nuances and attributes of the different parts of town, from backcountry to the shoreline, is a critical component of my service to clients,” she said.

Hindman is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School. She also studied to become a Chartered Financial Analyst and spent ten years on Wall Street before transitioning to real estate. She holds a Connecticut broker’s license with a GRI (Graduate, REALTOR® Institute) designation.
