About Barry

A seasoned professional, Barry Van Patten focuses on what is important to his real estate clients. Known for continually exceeding expectations and holding the highest degree of integrity and ethics, the Arizona resident since 1951 remains optimistic and faith based in everything he does.

Along with his wife, Ginger, and their son Barry II, Barry is a driving force of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty’s The Van Patten Luxury Group. He is Broker Associate and Accredited Buyer Representative at the recognized brokerage where a portion of each compensation check goes to The Russ Lyon Charitable Foundation.

For 32 years Barry was in the business of improving the quality of people’s lives through exercise and proper nutrition as an owner and operator of fitness centers. “As a young man, I was always interested
in real estate and started buying land and property in Phoenix and Scottsdale, so it was a natural progression to obtain my real estate license in 2005,” he shares. At that time, he also obtained the designation of Accredited Buyer Representative to provide a more comprehensive value to his buyer clients and in 2020, while COVID 19 was in full swing, Barry obtained his Broker Associate credentials.

An expert in luxury properties, Barry offers the highest quality value added services to his buyers and sellers. “The Van Patten’s are a family that strongly believes that our influence is determined by how abundantly we place other people’s interest before ours,” he shares.

Barry strongly believes that every business including the real estate business is a value-based business in that people want to do business with those they like, trust, and provide value. “Early in my business career I have been inspired by a quote from Calvin Coolidge who said “No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave.” As a result, it is my approach that providing value is not a strategy, it is a way of life,” he says.

Barry’s personality and style blend exceptionally well with his perseverance and ability to listen to his clients. “While we enjoy meeting new clients most of our business comes from grateful clients who have referred their network of family and friends to us over the past 16 years. Why do you ask? The Van Patten Luxury Group strongly believes that the most valuable gift we can give is ourselves, our time, and our talents,” he says.

For the past 40+ years Barry has been a student of many self-improvement courses. “I am a firm believer that motivation comes from within. I begin each day with what I am thankful for and encourage others to practice the same,” he shares.
