Bill Shaffer has a background in construction and when we were looking at perspective homes he was able to point out important home details to me due to his construction knowledge. I’m certain 99% of all other realtors would not have had Bills knowledge and they might have allowed me to buy a home that was loaded with problems. I can preface this review by saying that we have several friends that are real estate agents, some of which were expecting us to use their services. However, our family felt the need to go with someone who was impartial and would have our best interests in mind with no agenda. I am thrilled to say that we found the perfect agent in BILL SHAFFER. Simply the best!
Bill was referred to us through another agent in June of this year. For 3 months prior to our move back to California in September 2023 Bill contacted us on a monthly basis to check in with us as to how we were and how the sale of our home on the East coast was progressing. He went out of his way to keep us updated on the market in the Oceanside-Vista area even though we had not hired him as our buying agent.

Where do you even start when describing the experience that is Bill Shaffer? This isn’t just someone you want to buy or sell a home with, it’s someone you want in your home. The great personality is just the foundation that this deeply caring agent builds off of, when it gets down to the details, the negotiations and the tiny print of the contract just know that this blood hound already sniffed out anything that could be disadvantageous to you and your family. Now with all that I’m sure you think “this guys gotta be high pressure sales guru type” you would be wrong. I feels like having a cup of coffee with family, it’s almost like he’s the cool brother and he just does real estate on side and it’s available when you want. I met Bill Shaffer at an open house he was hosting. From the get go, he was a professional and offered information that was quite useful to me. He even came over to my house to give me an evaluation on what it could sell for. He went a step further and showed me a home that I was interested in purchasing if my current home sold. We recently relocated from the Bay Area to Oceanside, and Bill was referred to us by a family friend. We loved that he could walk us through the differences in the Bay Area processes vs the SD market processes, given his experience as a former Bay Area realtor. We were still in the Bay and he accommodated us virtually until we could get to Oceanside to see houses in person.
Bill really took time to get to know us as people and what was important in our search. He steered us with love and care, and of course into our Oceanside home. It was a home we didn’t really consider, but after talking through other options, and the quickly changing market, it made sense to put in an offer. It was not an easy process with the seller’s relocation company, but Bill remained calm and continued to standby us with every decision. Overall, he takes in every consideration with thought and practicality, because it's a reflection of the kind hearted person he is. In early 2020, my husband and I were looking to relocate from the San Francisco Bay Area to North County San Diego. As first-time home buyers during California's COVID lock-down, we did a ton of research online, but we still needed a local agent to represent us during this process. We eventually came across Bill's profile and positive reviews, so we reached out. Within minutes, we got a response. We quickly learned how knowledgeable and patient he was, and we are so grateful he was willing to work with first-time buyers.

Bill helped show us several homes and neighborhoods that met our requirements, and we quickly found our dream home: a new build, in coastal North County, with a community pool. We knew that working with a home builder would create some challenges as buyers, but having Bill by our side created an incredible advantage. Bill helped educate us on the current market conditions, find other areas to negotiate with the builder (e.g. incentives, design packages, etc.), and even bring down the price (yes, on a new build!).

My husband and I were looking for a duplex and there were only a few available due to the pandemic. We found one that was an extreme fixer upper. Bill has a great knowledge of what exactly needed to be repaired and spoke in depth about costs. Bill always made sure we knew exactly what we were getting into and made sure we got the best price. He walked us through the entire home buying process and previewed many homes for us before we arrived. My partner Sarah and I worked with Bill Shaffer in our home buying process because he was referred to us from a friend. After our first introduction call with him we felt really comfortable working with him. When we first spoke with Bill we were very much still researching where we could afford to buy a home while also checking off the boxes of staying near our jobs, family and the ocean because we are both avid surfers. Bill took the time over many phone calls no matter what time of day to educate us on different areas that fit our criteria and to help us better refine our search. We took our time in this step of the process and Bill was always patient with us, and always helped us by answering specific questions we had. Once we narrowed down our search and got pre-qualified for a Loan, Bill helped us arrange a lot of home visits. He worked tirelessly to ensure that we got appointments to see homes we were interested in, and this was no small feat because we were looking all over the Bay Area and in San Diego as well. Luckily for us, Bill has a lot of experience in both markets and he was able to confidently navigate next steps no matter where we wanted to see a home. After about 1 year, and over 55+ homes we finally found something that worked. Bill stuck by our side to make it happen, and we closed on our first home in April 2021 in San Diego!
