She serves on the board of Waymakers (Laguna Beach Youth Shelter), where Orange County teens in crisis can find temporary housing. She is a regular volunteer at the Laguna Food Pantry.

Brendy moved to Laguna Beach in 1994 from Chicago. She raised her two children in Laguna Beach and knows the school system and the town better than most. She has been a dedicated volunteer throughout the years at the city’s public schools and with SchoolPower, the Laguna Beach education foundation.
