Jane "Brooks" Rampersad has been leasing commercial office units since 2014. She was the founder of Sunshine Labs, Orlando's first hardware accelerator, which was the recipient of a Small Business Administration grant. She also has personal experience running a vacation rental since 2014, and is an Airbnb Superhost.
Brooks started her career in Electrical Engineering, completing a Master's Degree. After working as a research and development engineer for a family-owned biomedical engineering company, she started a hobby electronics business, and moved it to Orlando, Florida to be closer to her client base. She partnered with others who had similar business needs, and they ended up in a light manufacturing facility that had additional space. From her experience with manufacturing businesses, she began to lease the additional space to other businesses who also needed entry-level access to manufacturing space, and also provided access to manufacturing equipment and business consulting services. This attracted attention from various local groups including a mention in the Orlando Business Journal, and a grant from the Small Business Administration, which she used to open two additional facilities, one in South Orlando and one in Melbourne, Florida.
Brooks took a sabbatical to raise her daughter in 2015, and meanwhile moved out to Cocoa Beach to be closer to family and vacation rental. She also began to build a portfolio of rental properties. In 2019, she became licensed as a Real Estate Sales Associate, in order to provide for others, the expertise developed with regards to identifying investment and commercial properties, and their management. She joined All Real Estate Inc. in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where her breadth of experience was a good fit, for their commercial and investment property services, and waterfront property expertise. She has owned oceanfront property since 2012 and canal front property since 2016.
