A little about me:
I got my first job when I was 14 years old. My neighbor owned a construction company framing houses, I was in prime athletic shape... a perfect combination. I began at the bottom toting wood on the job site; from sun up to sun down, I carried boards on my shoulders to the builders hard at work.
I loved watching the house grow from dirt, concrete and a pile of lumber, into a 1, 2 even 3 story family home. Over the next 5 years, the carpenters taught me everything from studying blueprints to fabricating load-bearing walls. I learned it all! So much so, that I started 3 companies of my own. From age 22 to 40, I built families their forever homes, companies their storefront, and neighborhoods their houses. Talk about a humbling gig!!
My crew and I were "rehabbing" low-income residences when a building collapsed and I fell 12 feet onto my ankle. I was airlifted to a trauma center, received emergency surgery and ultimately stayed bedridden for just under a year.
After my accident, I closed my companies. As I began to get back on my feet over a year later, I took a job in in-home sales. I traveled from Tennessee to Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and more. While on the road, I couldn't help but miss my former fulfilling career.
Getting through a year of sales on the road, I decided to move back home and look for a career that would get me back into the world of building. I could no longer build houses... but I could sell them. I found a way I would once again, do what I loved best, and that was helping people get into their dream house. I enrolled in Real Estate School, got my license and got to work!
But here's the truth of the matter... what I loved at 14 years old remains true even today. There is no greater joy than being a part of someone's future. I spent 20 years building homes for families that many I would never meet, storefronts for companies I had never heard of and neighborhoods I never drove through again. But I knew deep down that my work made an impact on someones' life. I now get the privilege of experiencing that personally through my career as a real estate agent.
