Carol Ann is a Delaware native, spending family vacations in Rehoboth and Bethany Beach since 1970. Originally from Wilmington, DE, she attended Ursuline Academy and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Delaware. Following a short stint at Georgetown University Hospital, she joined the family business, Pala Bros. of Wilmington, working with builders and private clients as an interior designer.
She met and married her husband, Peter McLean, and both headed to the University of Tennessee, where Carol Ann worked at Oak Ridge National Lab and assisted Peter in black bear trapping and research while he pursued his Ph.D. in Ecology and she received her Masters in Information Science. Upon graduation, they returned to St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, DE, where Peter has taught biology and environmental science for the past 30 years. Carol Ann served as the Library and Archive Director for St. Andrew’s School for 16 years.
With their two children Peter and Elsa in tow, the couple built a home in Lewes in 1993, which has become one of the best investments they have made both personally and financially. As Sussex County residents, Carol Ann and Peter believe in sustainable development to wisely preserve this remarkable coastal community.
From interior design to black bears to missile development, Carol Ann has had a far-ranging career, but, through it all, there has been one common thread; outstanding service and a penchant for delivering pertinent and timely information to her clients. Carol Ann practices Svaroopa® yoga and meditation daily; her mantra of “Happy clients... Happy heart” has endured. In her spare time, she loves kayaking, hiking, skiing, sailing, and biking with her husband in Cape Henlopen State Park and beyond.
