About Charles

Charles Blau has been actively engaged in the appraisal of New Jersey Real estate since 1981. Mr. Blau is a member of the New Jersey Bar, and a graduate of the American University Law School in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Blau is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser (License No. RG 00113) and a Certified Tax Assessor in the State of New Jersey.

Since 1990 Mr. Blau has been president of Blau Appraisal Company and a partner in Blau & Blau, Attorneys at Law, which devotes most of its practice to property tax appeal and condemnation.

Mr. Blau is a member of the Independent Fee Appraisers and hold the IFAC (Counselor Independent Fee Appraiser) designation. Mr. Blau was elected to the National Board of Directors for the NAIFA in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Blau also has the General Accredited Appraiser designation of the National Association of Realtors. He is an affiliate member of the Appraisal Institute.

Mr. Blau has testified as an expert witness before the United States District Court, Bankruptcy Court, New Jersey Tax Court, Superior Court, Office of Administrative Law and many county board's of taxation.

Although he restricts his practice to New Jersey he has appraised property from the Atlantic Ocean to the Delaware River and from Cape May to High Point. Mr. Blau has appraised a wide variety of property from the usual office, multi-family residential, industrial and retail uses to special purpose properties such as theaters, gas stations, wetlands, beaches, reservoirs, funeral homes, airports, restaurants, marinas, easements and churches. Mr. Blau has appraised an extraordinary amount of vacant land in both urban and rural settings. Mr. Blau has also appraised many nursing homes for the New Jersey Department of Health's rate setting program.
