About Chris
Since 2008, Chris has been a successful Realtor in Chicago. She is proud to now be part of Compass' Chicagoland team, along with her husband Chris Laubach who she is happily partnering with as Team Chris & Chris. His 30 years of experience in advertising nicely complements her lengthy career in real estate and makes them a uniquely well-rounded team.
She knows that no matter how exciting it can be to make a move, it can still be a "challenging" experience both buyers and sellers. In addition to the emotions that are inevitably linked to the process, there are myriad details that need to be attended to. Chris seeks to alleviate her clients' anxiety with her professional work ethic, her constant communication and by working as proactively as possible to anticipate issues and needs.
One of the joys she often says she gets from this job is helping people sell their homes to just the right buyers. Her sellers feel comfortable knowing that she has marketed their property to find a buyer who will appreciate their home as much as they do. And, when working with buyers, she loves to see their eyes light up when they find the home, they know is meant for them. These moments keep her truly motivated and energized.
A Chicago girl at heart
Chris grew up in Evanston, attended Evanston Township High School, then traveled east to study at Bucknell University where she earned a B.A. in both Economics and English. After graduating, she headed to New York City, where she worked in advertising in account management. It was there that she met her ad-man husband and soon after sold him on Chicago. Here, she pursued a new career in fundraising The University of Chicago.
After a stint at home raising two boys in Lincoln Park, Chris returned to work, choosing real estate as a natural fit her personality, knowledge and skill set. Both previous careers in advertising and fundraising required intensive work with all different kinds of people, sales, and teaching, plus the crucial component of needing to be highly organized to be successful. Her attention to detail ensures that the sometimes-complicated process of buying or selling a home goes as smoothly as possible. Chris takes pleasure in being dedicated, reliable, knowledgeable and competent, holding the desires and needs of her clients as her foremost concern.
By nature, Chris is an insatiable student. She has taken advantage of continuing education in Negotiation Techniques, Short Sales & Foreclosures, Condominium Associations, How the House Works and many other subjects. She has practical experience with first-time (and other) buyers and sellers, in single family homes, condos and multi- building sales. She is also familiar with 203K renovation loans. If Chris doesn’t know the answer to something, she will seek counsel from someone who does.
