A North Carolina native, originally from the mountains in the Western part of our state —Hendersonville, North Carolina—Cindy McMahan is a longtime Chapel Hill area resident and experienced business professional. Having lived in Chapel Hill since her college days studying English at UNC-Chapel Hill in the early 80’s, Cindy brings a wealth of market knowledge and expertise to every client she serves. Cindy stays involved and was a co-owner of a small diner in Carrboro, Elmo’s Diner until it closed in September of 2020 due to safety concerns with Covid. She co-founded Elmo’s Diner and operated in Carrboro serving locals and visitors for over a quarter of a century, making her well connected within the area.
Throughout her career, Cindy has maintained an active role in the community, where she and her partners contributed consistently to the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Public School Foundation, sponsored blood drives with The American Red Cross, and was a recognized contributor for all 28 years to the Inter-Faith Council’s RSVVP events which help to fight hunger by contributing a portion of proceeds from dining out to local organizations to provide food for those in need.
A career swing to real-estate seems to follow naturally as Cindy has found great satisfaction in making sure others are served very well and has never met a stranger! She continues to hold herself accountable to provide professional service. Cindy’s attitude toward service was attained through many years in the service industry as a business owner who realized her guests were her neighbors and friends and deserved products and service that encouraged not just a positive experience but a lasting relationship! “It is not just business.” She enjoys being of service to others and has the endless energy and skills needed to juggle the many details that result in a smooth closing for the most important transaction, possibly in your lifetime!
In her spare time, Cindy enjoys her family, cooking, and most anything if it is outdoors and with others! She loves laughing, swimming, meditation, volunteering, sailing, reading on her porch, dinners with friends, listening to music, watching the Heels and travel, to name a few!
