I would highly recommend Cornelia as a real estate agent. She was the agent for the seller of a house we recently purchased in St. Michaels. We did not have an agent and, though we called her at the last hour requesting to see the house, she quickly arranged her schedule so we could do so. When she showed us the house, she was cheerful and informative (we have found some realtors to be rather grumpy as if they are doing you a favor by showing you a house) and even suggested some changes to the house (taking out part of a wall to open up the kitchen, adding a door and patio off the first floor bedroom) that made the house even more appealing to us. Cornelia, in my view is highly intelligent, knowledgeable about the area and industry, experienced, energetic and friendly -- all of the qualities I would want in a realtor if we were to hire one in the future! If you are looking for property in the Saint Michaels/Easton area of Maryland's beautiful Eastern Shore, you will not find a more caring, hard working and knowledgeable real estate broker than Cornelia Heckenbach. It is not a surprise that she is the top selling broker in the area, but she achieves this distinction without ever making you feel pressured, and all the while making you feel as though she has no other clients. While looking for a second home in the Eastern Shore, my wife and I were impressed with how she knew everything about a house we had seen on Realtor.com, by just the address. She studied what attributes were important to us, and found eight other suitable properties - including one before it was listed - and took the time to show them all. We never felt rushed. Our second choice was a property that was her own listing, but a true testament to her character was that she actually recommended against her own property, because she believed our first choice was a better value, and a better fit for what we wanted. The property we were interested in posed some unique challenges, but Cornelia had all the resources and experience to bring the deal together. In addition, she brought in all the right contractors for consultation, so we knew exactly what type of extra cost would be involved above the purchase price for modifications we wanted to make. You won't find better, and you won't be disappointed.

We first called Cornelia about one of her listings, but when we met at her office, she listened to our interests, and took us out to see an additional 5 or 6 other listings, not her own, that were an even better fit for our hopes. She knows the area and the market so well, she can give practical advice about buying a lot vs an existing home, permitting issues, renovation possibilities, pricing and value. She's a complete professional and a lovely person to spend the day with; seriously competent, and fun. Her negotiation skills were invaluable, at offer, and at closing. Her many contacts gave us access to a variety of other terrific professionals who made the whole experience a pleasure, from surveyors and bankers to builders and bushhoggers. Our settlement was shortly after Superstorm Sandy went through. We arrived at the property for final walk-through to find Cornelia there ahead of us, finishing up negotiation with the seller's realtor to put money into escrow to remove some fallen trees we had not even known were down.
