About Cortney
A native Houstonian and seasoned real estate broker, Cortney Burns brings over 20 years of experience, resilience, and grace to Texas real estate.
Cortney’s story began in Houston, where she grew up as an only child with a passion for horses, training and riding quarter horses from a young age. While working for IBM @ Enron at 18, she pursued higher education, later earning her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from the University of North Texas. Cortney then earned her real estate license in 2002 — closing $8.4 million in transactions in her very first year.
By 2010, she had obtained her broker’s license, opened two successful real estate offices, and sponsored more than two dozen agents. Today, Cortney is known for her polished negotiation skills, market expertise, and unwavering dedication to client relationships.
Outside of real estate, Cortney remains true to her roots. She enjoys trail riding along the Salt Grass Trail, volunteering with Habitat for Horses, and serving as secretary for a local women’s nonprofit supporting community empowerment. She resides in central Houston with her son and their beloved golden doodle, Harper.
Cortney believes that every challenge has purpose — that everything happens for a reason — and lives by the idea that success is not just measured in numbers, but in the legacy of kindness, hard work, and authenticity left behind.
