Mr. Kaplan was the primary contributor to the formation and growth of Aspen Knolls Corp. (“AKC”), a privately-held single-family real estate development firm. Together with the CEO, AKC developed several complex and diverse projects. In particular, AKC developed a 1,000-unit townhome community, Aspen Knolls Estates, under a 20-year build-to-lease contract on Staten Island, New York, in support of Naval Station New York. Following termination of the 20-year build-to-lease contract with the U.S. Navy, managed AKC’s finances, corporate tax strategy, accounting, and sales operations of Aspen Knolls Estates, a 948 townhouse development, Staten Island, New York, valued more than $150 million.
