My wife and I truly enjoyed our experience with Daren very much. We were buying at the top of the market due to a job relocation, so finding a place was quite a challenge in the highly competitive market. Daren valued every showing and made notes of what we liked and didn’t like, considered our lifestyle, activities and our dog, and worked hard to find a match. It took quite a while because of the low inventory, but instead of encouraging us to buy something that was not truly a fit, on several occasions he actually talked us out of offering. Now that we know the areas better he was spot on. He could have gotten us to close on something that wasn’t a fit, but instead he put our long-term happiness ahead of his short-term financial goals. Over the time working with him, he came to be a trusted advisor.

I cannot recommend Daren any more highly. If I have needs again, he would be my first and only call. He is very knowledgeable in the market, and knows the area and the neighborhood vibes like the back of his hand. We were concentrated in San Diego, but also considered properties in north county and further north and he seemed to have fantastic knowledge there also.
The combination of getting us the best fit, the market know-how, and patience was really the perfect blend. We are quite happy with our purchase and our experience.

Daren helped us buy our first house in southern California during one of the most aggressive buyers' markets of the past 10 years.

As first time home owners we had a lot to learn about the process. Daren was available by text, email, and phone to explain the process and answer any questions we had. When we made a mistake, he was there to help us fix it.

The 2022 market for buyers in SD county has been very competitive. We missed out on a lot of bids (mostly all cash offers -- something first time home buyers don't have), but Daren kept our spirits up and we kept searching. Daren always put his best foot forward with the listing agent to make our offer stand out as much as possible.

Daren is reliable, knowledgable, and responsive. He's a strong communicator, negotiator, and understands all of the fine details that need to come together to close on your home buying purchase. You'll enjoy working with him through the highs and lows of the home buying process.

And look, now our little dog has her own yard to hunt cats in!

I started working with Daren Preece to purchase my first home in fall of 2021. As this was my first home buying experience I didn't quite know what it was I wanted to buy. On our first meeting Daren spent his Sunday driving all over north county San Diego looking at a range of home types (homes townhouses, and condos). Needless to say I didn't put an offer on anything. We performed this exercise at least three more times before I felt comfortable putting an offer on a home. I was not excited about these homes so I did not put in the winning offers. Daren was nothing but patient and professional during this process advising me to only offer what I felt comfortable with. In December I finally found a single family home in Vista that "I wanted". I told Daren this, and he went to work putting together an aggressive offer to get accepted. Unfortunately, a cash buyer won. I wrote off the house and moved on. Unbeknownst to me Daren took the proactive step to stay in touch with the listing agent, and when the cash offer fell out Daren got my offer accepted! As this was my first time in escrow I was a bit overcome with fear at the permanence of the decision to buy a home. Again, Daren was patient, responsive, and professional during this process. Even during the holidays he made sure I got the right inspectors to perform my due diligence on the property. Unfortunately the property had foundation issues and Daren advised that I pull out of the deal (Thank God!!!). At this point I personally became frustrated with the housing market and the fact that I was not coming to the table with cash meant my offer wasn't going to get accepted. I had all but given up. Thankfully Daren always checked in with me, which kept me looking at listings. By January of 2022 I concluded that the only way to have an affordable mortgage would be to buy a home with an ADU. I shifted my search to these style of home. On only my third offer on a 3bed 2 bath home with a 1 bed 1 bath adu Daren was able to get the listing agent to accept my offer. During the inspection period I found a few issues on the property. Being my proponent Daren was able to negotiate the price down and get me credit on closing costs. Overall I now have a home in a desirable part of north county San Diego with an adu that is covering almost half my mortgage. I can't recommend Daren enough!

Daren helped us sell our beachside home and we truly walked away feeling like all parties (sellers & buyers) involved were big winners! We are very pleased with the experience and it made our move out of our favorite city of Encinitas less stressful.

We had contacted the Luxury & Coastal group when we were 37 weeks pregnant with our first baby. Due to these family constraints and a pending relocation with a newborn, we had a very tight timeline for showing and sale. Daren & Jay walked us through what would be required of us, and what they would handle. They have over-delivered in every way. I’m not exaggerating when I say I could not have made it through my first home purchase without Daren Preece by my side. Beginning this process I knew nothing about how it worked and he taught me so well that I had listing agents asking if I was a realtor because I was asking all of the right questions! Daren was so attentive to my wants and needs. He was able to talk me down anytime I was feeling overwhelmed and get me to hone in on what I could control, instead of what was out of my control.
I never told him until after I closed on my new home that the thought had crossed my mind to give in to the defeat that was felt shopping around during this market, wait a while, and just look for something to rent. The only reason I never actually went through with making that decision is because Daren gave me the confidence and faith that we were going to succeed with finding me the right home.
