He is involvement/commitment with our local community. Received his BA in Business/Economics. Was a criminal Magistrate & then Small Claims Judge for over five years in NC's 28th Judicial District. He coached CD Owen's Middle (1st Conf Champs ever!) and high school wrestling teams, and also served as Vice-Chair then Chairman of Owen High's Advisory Council. He has 28 years of local community banking experience, as Treasurer then VP...As licensed mortgage loan officer (MLO), senior compliance officer, mtg processor/underwriter, managed bank's loans-in-process (LIPs), and performed all construction inspections. He is a NC Certified Residential RE Appraiser with over 30 years of local experience. David recently served on Buncombe's original Health & Human Services Board (DHHS) and several terms as Chairman/Co-Chairman of Buncombe's Parks, Greenways, and Recreation Advisory Board. Was Treasurer of the local Rotary Club. Served on WNC Alliance's Sustainable Dev Task Force. Served several years as Vice-chair of Black Mountain's Board of Adjustments, was appointed to Black Mountain's first Comprehensive Planning Committee and was an active participant on Black Mountain Chamber of Commerce's Land Use, Economic Development, and Tourism committees. His wife Kathy is also a broker for GreyBeard.
