David was raised in Holland, Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Environmental Studies and Earth Science. David is married, raised his three children in East Grand Rapids and now resides in Ada. David spent the first 10 years of his career as an environmental consultant performing environmental due diligence for real estate transaction across the U.S. After seeing the decay of many urban cities, David turned his career to redevelopment work for ICCF Community Homes. David’s work at ICCF resulted in the development of homes throughout Grand Rapids for hard working families to plant roots and raise their children in safe and flourishing neighborhoods. Many of these families still live in their homes today. The housing recession of the late 2000s led David to Habitat for Humanity of Kent County to secure funding for renovating foreclosed homes in Grand Rapids, including LEED certified homes in Wealthy Heights Historic District. Between 2012 and 2019, David was Director of Development for Kent County Land Bank Authority, which was responsible for the purchase, renovation and resale of 800 properties throughout Kent County, generating $50 million in economic development. From 2020 to 2023, David started the Dwelling Place Community Land Trust which resulted in the development of a 42 home permanently affordable homeownership community in Alger Heights. David now manages the Michigan Housing Fund for IFF CDFI which combines government funding from Kent and Ottawa Counties with private capital to provide financing for mixed income and mixed-use housing developments for our growing region. David has been a licensed Realtor with Greenridge Realty since 2016. His extensive experience providing homeownership for the past 25 years has given him a passion for going beyond his client’s expectations, helping them achieve the home of their dreams, and value of serving their community.
