About Dawn

Dawn Wilson has lived and worked in the DC Metro area since 1993. Dawn moved here after graduating from New York University School of Law with a JD in 1993 where she was an editor for the Law Review. For college, she attended Boston College and Hofstra University, graduating early in December 1989, summa cum laude, with a BBA in Finance and Banking, as the top business student. Dawn has watched many changes occur in the DC Metro area over the last three decades, giving her considerable knowledge about the area. This greatly benefits her clients, particularly when they are unsure of where they would like to buy a home.

Dawn represents clients buying and selling residential real estate in Virginia, Maryland, and DC. Dawn is a member of the National Association of Realtors®, the Virginia Association of Realtors®, and the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors®. She is a Certified Real Estate Divorce Specialist, a Certified Probate Real Estate Specialist, an American Warrior Real Estate Professional (specializing in helping veterans), and an NVAR Lifetime Top Producer. She is proud to be consistently recognized as a Top Realtor® by Washingtonian Magazine, Arlington Magazine, and Northern Virginia Magazine. Dawn is highly trained and is also certified to teach real estate agent licensing classes.

Prior to working as a Realtor®, Dawn was a judicial law clerk, practiced law at private law firms in D.C. and Virginia, was an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the D.C. Government, an adjunct professor at American University School of Law, and an editor for several legal texts. She was very involved with the D.C. Bar, and was Chair of the D.C. Bar Family Law Committee. Dawn has served on the Boards and Committees of several non-profit organizations. Dawn is currently the Vice-Chair of the Board for Rebuilding Together-Arlington/Fairfax/Falls Church, which helps income-challenged people, including many seniors and veterans, maintain the health and safety of their homes.

Her training, experience, and expertise as a lawyer and a Realtor® serve her clients well. Dawn has been involved in numerous negotiations. In addition to having excellent negotiating skills, she is an excellent listener and communicator and works hard for her clients’ best interests. Dawn has worked with many clients and has helped some clients buy and sell multiple properties over the years, including primary residences, vacation homes, and investment properties. Dawn’s clients have described some of her best qualities as her humor, leadership, determination, compassion, and her ability to connect with people, and to connect people with each other.

Dawn is married with two grown children. She met her husband in law school. When her children were growing up, she spent many years volunteering for the PTA, various sports teams, and Odyssey of the Mind, among other volunteer activities. She also judged summer diving competitions for years. She spent several years volunteering to put together an annual event and auction, which helped AFAC (a local food bank) pay off their mortgage. She always looks to help her community.

Dawn enjoys reading, traveling, yoga, dancing, and kayaking. Her son currently plays on the club hockey team at Northeastern University, and she enjoys watching him play when she can. She has traveled with her family around North America, South America, Central America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Caribbean. Dawn looks forward to visiting Antarctica, which is on her husband’s bucket list.

My wife Lisa and I really enjoyed working with Dawn, a consummate professional with an extensive background in real estate and property law.  She shares the big picture with her clients, while focusing on—and listening to—their needs.  We found her to be refreshingly candid and amiable, while frequently going above and beyond what was expected.

My brother and I needed experienced help for our out of state sale of an inherited property. Dawn came well recommended and it took no time to see why. It was immediately clear that she knew her business, from her patient explanations for our many questions. Dawn’s warm manner and friendly, yet totally efficient competence, helped us feel at ease in what had been an overwhelming situation. She and her assistant were extremely supportive and accessible through every step of the listing and sale of our uncle's condo, and I can’t say enough good things about them both.
