Coming of age in the early 1970s, Deborah loathed the idea of having anything to do with sales. She became a teacher. She taught in inner-city Boston schools during the strife-filled period of “integration”. There were metal detectors at the school’s entrance and National Guardsmen in the halls. She worked hard with few resources and overcrowded classes yet it seemed she never garnered any appreciation for her dedication in the classroom.
At that time, she and her husband were renting a sweet apartment but we couldn’t have a garden. She couldn’t fix up the place and had to live with 25-year old wallpaper. The landlord was not a kind man. All this frustration drove us to buy a little house just up the street. She became a homeowner at the age of 26. Her baby was born a few months later in our new home. She never looked back and have been a homeowner ever since.
She loved that little house, changed the wallpaper, planted a garden and dedicated herself to meeting her neighbors and contributing to the town. She raved to everyone about home ownership and eventually gave up teaching and became a Realtor. She continued to proselytize about the benefits, spiritually, socially, philosophically and financially, of homeownership. She is called a real estate “salesperson” but she have never thought of herself as being in “sales” and she still doesn’t after 39 years in the field. For both her Sellers and Buyers, she truly operate as a consultant. She is still teaching!
Her job is to guide, enlighten and protect her clients. For her Sellers she strives to get her listings sold for the highest possible price, in the shortest possible timeframe and with the least amount of stress for the client. For her Buyers, her goal is to locate and successfully negotiate a property that meets their day-to-day needs and desires as well as one that is a sound financial investment. For each, she is committed to disclosing everything that they would want to know and protecting their confidentiality at all times. She has long term relationships and friendships with many of her clients which greatly enriches her life.
