As a resident of this area for more than 30 years, Dona has had the opportunity to be part of many aspects of community life. Through the years, she has been involved in such community activities as serving on the Chamber of Commerce, being a parent member of Plainview School Districts Committee for Special Education, volunteering each year for the Memorial Day Parade Committee, serving on the board of Caring for Caregivers, and as a member of the Long Island League to Abolish Cancer (LILAC), as well as being involved for many years as a trustee on the board of Manetto Hill Jewish Center. Dona Malter is a graduate of the Hunter College School of Nursing. She is married with three grown children and four grandchildren. She serves the Plainview, Old Bethpage, Syosset, Jericho, Woodbury, Brookville, Old Westbury, Bethpage, Hicksville, Melville, Farmingdale, Seaford, and Massapequa communities.
