Dave and Dorene have been married since 1990. Dave was the owner/operator of Harbor Marine, a boutique boatyard and chandlery at the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor, for 24 years. Dorene developed marketing and managed accounts receivable for 14 of those years. They grew to a family of six before leaving the boating industry in 2004. Four months later, Dave became a licensed real estate agent and began helping the Santa Cruz County community buy and sell their homes.
