About Douglas

Douglas is originally from Georgia but has been an N.C. resident since 1976 and discovered Bald Head Island when his career in medical packaging materials brought him to Wilmington. The incredible trees, landscape and how the development just blends into the natural surroundings was and remains the hook that caught him. His wife, Jane, retired Executive Director of the Old Baldy Foundation, and him have made Bald Head Island into their “hometown”. He loves the nature of the island and genuinely enjoys helping people make the Bald Head Island lifestyle part of their lives. As an instrument-rated private pilot, he is privileged to fly animal rescue flights for Pilots n Paws and conservation-related flights for SouthWings, where he was recently awarded “Honorary Emeritus” pilot status.
