About Ellen
Ellen is a small business owner, public policy creator, and nonprofit leader. As the founder of a luxury residential real estate brokerage, she has established a reputation for professionalism, trust, and excellence over a decade working in the Austin real estate market. Her deep involvement in the community has provided her with intimate knowledge of the city's neighborhoods, regulations, and permitting processes that provide added value to her clients. She has been recognized as one of the best Realtors® in the business by both the Austin Business Journal’s Profiles in Power Awards and Platinum Top 50’s Realtor Awards.
Ellen holds the unique honor of being the youngest woman to ever serve on the Austin City Council. During her tenure, she stood as an unwavering advocate for efficient and accountable government. She successfully implemented the city’s first homestead exemption, providing property tax relief for homeowners across Austin, reformed the city’s Hotel Occupancy Tax program to allocate more funding to parks, public safety, and historic sites, and advocated for common sense transportation solutions. She served as the Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee and represented Austin on the Capital Area Council of Governments. Additionally, as the Chair of American City County Exchange, a national organization for local elected officials and private sector members, she furthered transparency and effective government across the country.
She is continuing her public policy efforts as a Senior Fellow with the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Building on her years of experience serving as a Chief of Staff in the Texas Legislature before she ran for Austin City Council, she is currently working to enact meaningful property tax reform at the state level, providing sustainable relief from rising property taxes to all Texans.
Before Ellen began her career in real estate and public policy, she graduated with a degree in business from the University of Texas. Ellen and her husband, Caleb, are the proud parents of two daughters, Juliette and Margaret, and are devoted to showing them the importance of giving back. Ellen is the Chair of the St. David’s Foundation Toast of the Town 2019, raising money for life-changing scholarships for central Texas students. She also serves in leadership roles for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas and the Wine and Food Foundation of Texas. She is dedicated to helping a new generation become involved and invested in their communities.
