About Elliot
Born in Brooklyn, Elliot grew up in Spring Valley, New York. He relocated to Maryland then returned to New York to get a degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. A career opportunity sent Elliot into retail for 33 years with the Hecht Company, where he held various positions including Buyer of Men's Sportswear, Branch Merchandise Manager and Branch Director of Operations. “We were fortunate, my wife Sue’s window treatment business, The Blind Spot, gave her the flexibility to work while raising our two kids, who are both graduates of VA Tech.” Jennifer, an events coordinator for the American Banking Association, lives with her husband in Arlington, Virginia. Justin is a Marine Captain pilot and lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife and three children.
Elliot began his career in new home sales as a Community Sales Manager for Brookfield Homes, where he focused on 55 and better communities, estate homes and custom homes. Elliot joined K Hovnanian Homes in 2011 working with new home buyers in Virginia and in Delaware, then joined the Team at Active Adults Realty as a licensed Delaware REALTOR® in December 2013.
Elliot keeps active with his career in real estate. He has made it my business to know the new home builders in the area and his is familiar with their models and quality of homes they build. While real estate is keeping me busy, he still finds time to enjoy exploring the local area as well as traveling to other places overseas. He enjoy physical fitness activities, sports, movies, restaurants, poker and, “trips to see the grandkids!”
The Welans spent 40 years in Loudoun County, Virginia prior to relocating to Delaware. When choosing their new neighborhood, they sought out quality of life, tax structure, location to recreation and the beach. “When his kids were growing up, they used to spend vacations in Bethany Beach with the rest of his family, and the area has always held fond memories. They purchased thier home in Heritage Creek in Milton in December 2012 choosing the Hartford model home based on its stately design. The streetscape of the Heritage Creek neighborhood was a key factor as well. He liked the small town feel of the town of Milton while still having the advantage of a proximity to restaurants, retail stores and the beach.”
On Elliot’s Boomer Bucket List is taking a river cruise through wine country, finishing work on his basement, picking up his trumpet again and getting involved in community work with organizations like our local Habitat for humanity.
