We would be moving from Michigan where home prices seem to be about 60% of what they are in the Des Moines, Ia area. Galen worked with us through the internet to save us trips to Des Moines. We could sign forms electronically and return them automatically. Galen listened to our desires and worked hard to find what we wanted in the price range we had to work with. We found Galen to be very knowledgeable about home construction. As a former builder he knows what to look for and is quick to notice when something is not constructed right or is in need of repair. We found Galen to be very knowledgeable about the price of homes in the different areas around the city and outlying towns. We appreciated that Galen was willing to show us multiple homes and never try to sell us on a home just to close a deal. It was evident Galen wanted us in the home that we would love for years to come and at a price we could afford weather we viewed 20 homes or 50. Each time we viewed a home Galen received our comments and used them to refine the search. We found Galen willing to work hard to communicate with other realtors to create a workable and fair purchase possible. Galen was also very helpful after the purchase of our home. 06/01/2015 - everett davidm I first contacted Galen in March of 2015 looking to purchase a home, ( I was renting ) and move in early June. While it was a bit early to start looking at houses Galen set up a scan of all active properties at the time. We began to look at properties at the end of March. We selected 6 properties and looked at them over 2 days. Galen was very knowledgable about the property condition and gave an honest opinion on the property. Because the market was heating up and homes in our price range were being bought quickly, we made an offer on a home on April 3, 2015 which was Good Friday. We were driving to visit relatives and had spotty reception. Galen was a fantastic negotiator and stayed up until after 10 pm on Good Friday to close the deal and get our offer accepted. Galen was also very helpful during the inspection process and was able to negotiate favorable concessions from the sellers based on the home inspection. 01/12/2015 - user5371496 With such high ratings your first thoughts probably is this review can not be trusted. Read on to come to your own conclusion. We were in the market to buy a property and received a call from Galen who explained why we needed a Real Estate agent to represent us. We were skeptical but agreed to meet him when we were back in Des Moines. It turned out to be the best choice we could have made. He not only got us the property, that we ended up purchesing, at a price that was a considerable amount below what we would have offered as a starting price, but did something more important. We ended up debating between two properties. And I thought my wife wanted property B so I leaned that way and she thought I also wanted to deal on property B so she also leaned that way. But Galen could tell intuitively that might be what was happening so he suggested why not let him schedule another walk through of property A before we start negotiating. He could have saved himself the extra time involved to do this and just start negotating on property B and that would be where we would have been residing today. Because he took the time to do this we not only purchased the property that we both really wanted, property A, we also got it at a considerably lower price than if I did not have him as our buying realator. We have not used Galen as a seller realator so can not rate him in those shoes but when it comes to selling this property he will be tops on our list of who to contact. Ane if we are buying again, there is no doubt what-so-ever who will be representing our interest. He will go above the call of duty and will take whatever time is required to get us what we truly want. My first thoughts on his initial phone call was that he is only offerring his services so as to collect a fee. Was I mistaken. His first goal is to find the ultimate property for the buyer and then will work hard to get it at the lowest negotiated price. My reason for writing this review is that he treated us more than right and I hope that there will be others that get treated the same. Larry and Connie McCurdy
