My wife and I have been through the home buying and selling process several times in our lives and have had more bad experiences than good, unfortunately. However, we were both extremely impressed with Gretchen’s knowledge, insight, organization and attention to detail. Under her guidance, we sold our home at our asking price (verified good based on our own research on local comps) after less than one day on the market! We were about to move from the Midwest to the southeast coast, and the quick sale removed many logistical challenges for us. If you would like to minimize the uncertainty of the process of buying or selling a home, you will want Gretchen on your side.

My wife and I have known Gretchen for a number of years now. We started our search to get closer to downtown Naperville and wanted to be in the historic district. It took a couple of years, Gretchen was patient and never pushed us one way or the other. She provided great advice and counsel and when we found the right place, we jumped! Her patience and persistence was much appreciated. When we listed our home, we asked her for no signs in yard, etc. she obliged and sold our home for more than what we asked in three days! Gretchen Ashley is not only a realtor, but also a counselor, troubleshooter and life coach! If you think moving to a new house may be just a little stressful, Gretchen is just the person to iron out the kinks. From her attention to detail in staging to final negotiations, she always goes the extra mile. There are so many examples I could use, but here are just a couple: when we thought we were buying a new build, Gretchen offered to camp out in a model home overnight so she could secure one for us when the next phase opened. We eventually chose a much older house, but on move in day we couldn’t get the front door to open. Gretchen saved us from the wrath of our movers by rushing over to help us get in. While it’s true sometimes she was so positive I wanted to slap her, you really need someone like that in your corner! Gretchen guided us through our moving adventure to home sweet home. We’re now at the stage of unpacking a thousand boxes. But I have a feeling if I asked her to help, she probably would. That’s the sort of realtor Gretchen is.

Gretchen single handily changed my perception of realtors for the better. She is attentive, prompt in her responses, thorough, savvy, and helpful throughout the entire process. She has her clients’ best interests at heart and it showed. We knew Gretchen as a friend prior to asking her to help us find a new house. I say that up front because we already knew the type of person that she is, her character, her work ethic, her thoroughness, and her patience. And, although she never showed it, I’m sure we tried her patience as I think about our two year search and the numerous houses that we saw.

Gretchen didn’t hesitate to show us houses, at our request, that she knew weren’t a fit but she allowed us that freedom because she knew we were also looking for ideas. The houses that she brought to us were houses that fit our evolving requirements. Of all the houses that she brought to us, I can’t think of a single one that we felt was a waste of time.

Once we found “the one”, Gretchen was invaluable in the negotiation process. And I believe we asked a lot of her given our offer based upon our understanding of the market. Her market comps, discussions with the other realtor, etc. were all on point and supported by facts.

At the end of the day, we owe a great deal to Gretchen for her part in getting us into a home that we expect to be in for a long time. I recommend her without hesitation and without reservation. Thank you, Gretchen.
