About Hanh
Kim Hanh Dang was the President of Vietnamese Community of GA of 2nd term (2012-2015), and the Secretary of the Interim Georgia Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce.
Kim Hanh has had a long and interesting journey. While attending the University of Saigon Law School, she was rushed out of Vietnam and arrived in the United States due to the fall of Saigon in 1975. For two years she worked as a mail clerk for the Homesteader Life Insurance Company during the day, and at night she attended English classes. In 1981, Kim Hanh earned her bachelor’s degree of Information Computer Science from the Georgia Tech Institute of Technology where she also was elected to be the first President of the Georgia Tech Vietnamese Student Organization. Her professional career started with Southern Company Services as a Computer Programmer and then as a Computer Systems Analyst for 5 years. She left the Southern Company for a position at First Atlanta Bank for two years, and then spent seven years at the Georgia Tech Institute of Technology as a Computer Systems Analyst.
In 1993, she wanted to have more flexible hours with her family, and she changed her career path and became a licensed Nail and Skincare Professional. Together with her husband, she opened several nail salons and followed with several Asian-inspired restaurants located in various states, including Georgia, Florida, California, and Colorado.
In 2002, Kim Hanh decided to invest in the real estate market and obtained her real estate license. Within a year, she had already won the Dekalb County Rookie of the Year title. Two years later she became a member of the prestigious Million Dollar Club. As part of her investment, she formed and operated the Horizon Real Estate Investment, LLC and the Georgia Real Estate Investment, LLC.
Kim Hanh believes in helping others, making the community a stronger and better place to live in. After aiding in the organization of many fund-raising events and charity dinners, she was honored with several Recognition and Appreciation Community Service Plaques from The Vietnamese Community of Georgia, The United States Census Bureau, the Vietnamese Student Association of Georgia Tech Institute, temples and churches. She was the Vice Chair of the Katrina Fundraising Committee held by Atlanta Business Owners which raised over $100,000. She served on the Women’s Empowerment Panel of UNAVSA (Union North American Vietnamese Students Association) in 2009 and helped the Haiti Fundraising Event 2010. She organized and emceed for the Jade Buddha Fundraising Event and the Jade Buddha Exhibition event at Kim Cang Monastery with more than five thousand attendees. She was elected to be the Chairperson of the Census Bureau 2010 Vietnamese Complete Count Committee and the President of the Vietnamese Community of Georgia during the 2010-2011 term. In 2011, she was honored to be the Master Ceremony of the Lunar New Year Stamp First-Day-of-Issue Ceremony that was held at the National Library of Congress and nominated for GAT 25 Most Influential Asian Americans in Georgia Award in 2011.
