Hilary De Puy’s family first came to Napa Valley in the mid-1970's. In 1977, Hilary's father developed a home site and vineyards in Yountville, the heart of Napa Valley's renowned Stags Leap District. Hilary is a native Californian, born in Berkeley and raised in Piedmont. She began her undergraduate studies at University of San Francisco and Academy of Art College, completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts and French at University of Nevada-Reno. Hilary later attended law school, earned her Juris Doctorate degree in 2002, and began her law practice in 2003.
Following her undergraduate studies, Hilary traveled throughout Europe, where she worked in the Antique Art industry in appraisals and auction sales. Upon her return to California, Hilary joined the Sales and Marketing team at Joseph Phelps Vineyards where during her tenure, she rose to National Events and Marketing Coordinator.
Hilary is a former law associate with the downtown Napa law firm Gaw Van Male, where she handled complex land use matters and large-scale real estate transactions. Hilary's real property and land use law practice is the ideal foundation upon which she has built her Real Estate Broker career. In 2013, Hilary joined the Napa Valley offices of Compass, where she specializes in luxury wine country properties. As a Real Estate Broker, and with her rich background as a real property lawyer, Hilary’s transactional experience is valuable beyond measure.
Hilary is close to her Napa Valley community. She served as director on the nonprofit boards of Family Service of Napa Valley, Napa Valley Arts Council, and St. Helena Chamber of Commerce, and she currently serves as Vice President on the board of We Care Animal Rescue in Saint Helena. Hilary has also been active in local government, having served as Vice-Chairman of the Napa Bike and Trails Commission and Member of the Napa Traffic Advisory Committee, and active with the local Napa Bar Association, having served as Secretary of Napa County Women Lawyers. Hilary lives with her husband and two rescue cats in northwest Napa, where her home is situated along Redwood Creek at the base of Mt. Veeder. When not assisting clients or serving her community, Hilary enjoys gardening, hiking, swimming, cycling, golf, and in the winter months, skiing.
