Hoover Case

Hoover Case, of Marshfield, MO had a strong influence in both real estate and auctioneering, first from his dad and later his wife and current partner and Broker, Susan Case.

Hoover has dedicated majority of his life to auctioneering purebred cattle and helping youth in agriculture. In 1966, 16-year-old Hoover Case stepped into the sale ring with his Charolais heifer at the American Royal Charolais Sale.

After high school, Hoover attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College for two years. He then completed his degree in Animal Science at Missouri State University, in 1972. His first job out of college was sorting and penning cattle as the Springfield Stockyards. Throughout his college career Case kept his sights on the auction block by assisting his father, Willis Case, who had been in the auction business since 1939. The auction block was still in the forefront of Case’s mind, but he realized that in “Southwest Missouri that is a tough nut to crack.” He soon found that a good way to get into the business was working sales for various livestock publications as a “substitute” ring man when the fieldman for the publication needed help to cover other sales on the same day. This opportunity led him in launching the Ozark Farmer magazine in September 1980. To give back to the purebred world and to youth, Hoover helped develop “Brangus for Kids”, in 1990, a mentoring program that connected youth with potential show animals from Brangus breeders in the State of Missouri.

For the last 36 years, Hoover has been heavily involved with Santa Gertrudis, Beefmaster-Brangus, Simbrah and other “Eared” breeds, auctioneering purebred sales from Texas to Florida. Highlights of his career include selling the King Ranch 150th Anniversary sale in 2003, as well as continuing to his passion of selling registered livestock around the country, even after a devastating onset of bacterial meningitis left him paralyzed in 1993.

Former Webster County Circuit Judge Daniel Knust once stated “Hoover’s many accomplishments are the result of three constant character traits. First, Hoover is high energy. He does everything on high speed. Second, he always has a positive, “Can-do” attitude, punctuated with humor. And third, through listening and observing and through a multitude of personal experiences, Hoover has acquired an extraordinary ability to understand all types of people”.

Hoover and his wife Susan live in Marshfield, MO. They have three children, seven grandchildren and hopefully more to come. All of this experience has led Hoover to knowing the people, knowing the land and knowing ‘every side of the coin’. Hoover loves to see people gain assets to build their family legacy on.
