Jim Coleman was born in St. Charles and grew up in Elgin. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1964 and University of Illinois Champaign in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He then fulfilled a lifelong dream by enlisting in the United States Navy flight program, becoming a Navy pilot and serving his country from 1969 to 1971. In 1972, he decided to change careers by leaving the Navy and joining his father in the real estate business in St. Charles. He quickly realized that success in the real estate business would require community involvement and demanding work. He joined the St. Charles Jaycees in 1973 where he made many lifelong friends and served as President. He also was active in the Kiwanis Club and many other church and community activities.
Jim served on the board of directors and became president of the Fox Valley Board of Realtors. Jim’s father mentored his career development by teaching him the real estate business, which included selling and appraising real estate. Jim’s career to date has included sales of all types of properties including residential, commercial, industrial, and vacant land. He has consistently been a multi-million-dollar producer. In addition, he has developed the Coleman Management Company, which provides management services for residential, commercial and condominium properties.
