James Gelatt

REALTOR® Jim Gelatt brings his Wayne and Pike County buyers and sellers the perfect blend of area knowledge, real estate expertise, experience, and professionalism.
A resident of the Pocono Lake Region since 1950, Jim knows the area inside and out, and excels in helping buyers find the neighborhood and the home that will bring them pleasure for years to come. He enjoys introducing newcomers to the lake area and is always glad to share historical lore while helping them become familiar with the services and facilities available in each community. Hes familiar with all the local service providers and is happy to refer both buyers and sellers to those he trusts.
Jim follows the property values in each community and serves on both the Pike County Board of Appeals and the Pike County Board of Review the tax governing boards. He has also done course work in appraisals. This knowledge and experience gives his clients a decided advantage in correctly pricing their homes for sale.
An athlete since childhood, Jim is in the Sports Hall of Fame in Pike and Wayne Counties for basketball, baseball and soccer. He also played basketball for the base team at Andrews Air Force Base.
During his four years of service he had the opportunity to travel the world and see many places, but his love of the Pocono Lake Region brought him home when his time in the Air Force was completed.
A lineman with GEEIA (Ground Electronics Engineering Installation Agency) while in the military, he joined PP&L Electric and stayed with the company as line crew leader for 35 years. During those years, he also owned and operated a motel & restaurant, a bar and a gas station. Never idle, he obtained a Pennsylvania real estate license and sold real estate on weekends.
After retirement from PP&L, he joined Chant Realtors as a full time Realtor®. To bring further value to his clients, he earned the Certified Negotiation Expert designation. More recently, he has expanded his reach and now holds a New York Real Estate license in addition to his Pennsylvania license.
Jim is an avid golfer and enjoy shunting, fishing and any other activity that puts him in the great outdoors. A widower, Jim has four wonderful children and eleven grandchildren.
Jims mission as a Realtor® is to help his clients find the perfect home or the perfect buyer, and then to handle the nitty-gritty of the legal and technical details, so they can be free to enjoy the adventure.
