About James

James Kolander, 2018 Russ Lyon Sotheby’s Chairman’s Club Member – top 3% sales executive at the Desert Mountain office. James met his wife and real estate partner, Cynthia, at the grand opening of the Chiricahua golf course in 1999. Shortly after, they married and purchased a Desert Mountain homesite and subsequently built their dream home. After graduating from St. John’s University in Minnesota (’95), with a degree in communications, James worked as a financial planner, broker and retirement specialist for top financial companies including Charles Schwab and The Vanguard Group. He then joined Cynthia in real estate and together they ran their own company at Desert Mountain for more than 10 years before joining Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty at Desert Mountain. In his life in the entertainment industry as a singer/songwriter, music publisher and actor, James has opened for national music acts, written original compositions for film, radio and television and even landed the lead role in a full length movie. At Desert Mountain’s “The Trails”, 2018-19 will be the 7th year the Kolander’s have hosted the semi-annual “Kolander Mountain Jam”, a live music concert in the spectacular Sonoran mountain setting. James currently serves on the Village of Arrowhead HOA, is a DM Desperado Trail Scout and passionate CARE volunteer. He loves hiking, biking, golf, pickle ball and intensive crossfit style workouts and understands that his family is truly blessed to live, work and play at Desert Mountain. See you out on The Trails!
