James Koon

James is a founding partner of Koon Property Group, LLC, and serves as President. He began his dual real estate career in 2010 as a commercial real estate appraiser for Samuel D. Koon and Associates, Ltd., and as a licensed sales and leasing agent for Calgary Realty, Ltd. With his experience at these firms, he developed a strong understanding of value creation. In 2015, James worked at Newmark Knight Frank (previously Continental Realty) as a full-time commercial real estate leasing and sales agent focusing on investment and hospitality sales throughout the Midwest. In 2018, he began his development career with Northstar Realty, LLC, focusing on ground-up retail development throughout the state of Ohio. In 2021, he returned to his original roots, forming Koon Property Group, LLC, in a partnership with his father, Samuel Koon. James focuses on the company’s new developments including site selection, acquisitions, dispositions, planning/zoning approvals, project financing, and construction oversight. Working with diverse teams of architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, James is able to coordinate the various professionals to ensure a successful project. He prides himself on and has a passion for identifying on and off-market sites for new developments to serve specific client needs. James also oversees the brokerage team operations including representation of buyers, sellers, tenants, and landlords in commercial real estate transactions.

James is a 2010 graduate of Capital University, holding a bachelor’s degree in Business Leadership and Management, where he played four years of varsity golf. He is a current resident of New Albany, Ohio, where he resides with his wife Katherine.
