Jay Mitchell started his real estate career in 2004 with GSH Real Estate, now Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Towne Realty. Jay was the GSH Rookie of the Year in 2004, named Rookie of the Year for Hampton Roads REALTORS® Association in 2005, named HRRA’s Rising Star of the Year in 2006, and in 2007 he was named HRRA’s REALTOR Salesperson of the Year. Jay became a Prudential Towne Realty broker in 2009.
Jay is very active in the REALTOR® community, where he serves on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Association of REALTORS®, the Board of Directors for the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Association, as the 2013 VAR RPAC Trustees Chair, and on the National Association of REALTORS® Communications Committee. He has also served as NAR’s Federal Political Coordinator for Congressman Glenn Nye (from 2008 until 2010), as the 2012 Chair of VAR’s Legislative Bill Review Committee, and the VAR’s Public Policy Committee.
Jay’s community involvement is clear in his commitment to Rotary International, where he is a Paul Harris Fellow and has served three terms as a local club president. Jay entered real estate after nearly 25 years in television news, working for every major network and winning a number of awards including the coveted Edward R. Murrow award and Emmy Awards. Jay is a graduate of Northwestern University and served for several years as president of his alumni club. He is licensed in the states of Virginia and North Carolina.
