About Jesse

Jesse was raised in a small waterside town on Eastern Long Island. It was a terrific place to grow up, but the day he realized that Manhattan was a quick ride by rail, he was on the train every chance he had. And when he graduated from Union College, there was no question where he was headed.

Jesse started out getting the proverbial coffee for producers in the TV business and quickly worked his way up in that rapid-fire world. Creating television programming from scratch taught him how to promote an idea, plan, think fast on his feet, be on time as well as generous in his application of arduous work. It was challenging work he loved, but he needed something more. A deep look inward helped him conclude that the world of real estate managed to best combine his professional skills as well as his passions, and from Day One he has not looked back.

In Jesse’s twenty-five years living in the city, he lived in eleven different neighborhoods, three boroughs, and has recently expanded into Fairfield County. He knows the metro area inside and out. He has bought, sold, leased, and invested in coops, condominiums and townhouses all while relentlessly learning every inch of the real estate business. When we work together, you will have the benefit of this hard-won experience. Every transaction is a family affair for him. He is talking about the fully invested "pick you up at JFK in a snowstorm” kind of family affair. He takes immense pride that his clients are clients for life and thanks to them, the Shafer Group has become one of the top two hundred in the country with over $1B in career transactions, dually licensed in both New York and Connecticut. He is also super proud to be a founding agent at Compass, and an integral part of the company's origin story from a scrappy local Manhattan outfit to the largest independent brokerage in the country.
