Jo was born in Upstate New York where the hearty battle 6' snow drifts for a majority of the winter months, and pine for the gorgeous short summers of about 6 weeks. The rest is history after a particularly bad winter in 1995, she was casually dreaming of warm weather while waiting for a tow truck to pull her out on an icy should-not-be driving-day. She knew the Charlotte region was booming and without any strong forethought called two top agencies to simply generically explore the possibilities of the region. She immediately was flown down and asked to join the Allen Tate Company. She would become manager of one of their top communities, the River Run Golf and Country Club of Davidson, NC, where she sold luxury homes until 2007. She left her lucrative real estate career behind and never looked back.
Prior to her real estate career, she attended college for business and managed large medical offices. She was married to a high-end custom home builder and was an integral part of marketing homes and working with his clients. She and her then husband had a successful building company including planning and implementing subdivisions, and small commercial projects. Two children, Heidi and Heather are now successful professionals and Jo has a total of 7 grandchildren. Heidi and her family live in Holland and Heather relocated to Charlotte after spending several years in France and Ireland.
Combining her former life with the beautiful lakes surrounding the Adirondack mountains, it was a perfect fit to work in the Lake Norman area.
To state it simply, Jo loves what she does. Her many clients over 34 years of real estate describe her as vivacious, a positive out-of-the box thinker and knowledgeable on many levels beyond real estate. Her testimonials are rich in narratives describing warm, amusing, hard-working, always available agent whether they are a buyer or a seller. Nothing is beneath Jo to make a transaction work, whether helping a single woman unload her horse, or climbing through a window when a client misplaced her key.
Jo consistently worked full-time in real estate and has survived many things including bad markets and exorbitant interest rates which gives her a worldly view of how to best serve her clients.
In her spare time, Jo is a huge advocate for animals and is currently a founding member of Angels to The Animals (Facebook Angels to the Animals) near Charlotte NC. Raising money for vetting, spay/neutering and rehabilitating abused and neglected animals is her passion. She has literally saved hundreds of animals over the years. She is active politically and has great interest in our environment.
Jo specialty in real estate is horse farms and facilities with emphasis on talking "horse-speak" and making sellers and buyers comfortable with her knowledge of all
equine properties. In addition, she enjoys showcasing the Lake Norman region with the beautiful homes the area has to offer.
If experience is important to you, Jo just might be a person to talk to.
