A Tallahassee native, Joe earned First Team All-State honors in football at Leon High School and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout before being accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Military Science, and later earned an MBA to further his business expertise.

Joe served in the U.S. Army as an Airborne, Ranger-qualified Infantry Officer. During Operation Just Cause in Panama, he led a platoon of 40 soldiers in combat and was awarded multiple medals for his leadership and service.
