About Joel

Joel Burkhalter serves as Vice President of Operations for Berkshire Hathaway Lifestyle Properties and Vice President of Sales for Lifestyle Homes of Distinction, Inc. With a career in real estate that began in South Florida in 1977, Joel brings decades of experience in new home community development, sales, and management.

His real estate journey formally began in 1989, working with a national homebuilding company where he honed his expertise in residential development. In 2001, Joel joined Bruce Alexander and the Lifestyle Homes of Distinction team, helping to expand the company’s reach by launching its general real estate division. His leadership continues to shape both organizations, ensuring a seamless experience for buyers and homeowners alike.

Joel has called the Asheville area home for over 20 years. Outside of work, he enjoys camping, traveling, and playing golf. He is a proud member of the National Association of Realtors, North Carolina Association of Realtors, and the Land of the Sky Association of REALTORS®, and has previously held licenses in South Carolina and Florida. He is also affiliated with the Asheville Home Builders Association, and has been a licensed Realtor since 1989.
