John Corrigan

In August 2018 I joined Douglas Elliman as a licensed real estate agent with the focus of assisting friends, family and new clients whom I strive to insure become friends and grateful clients. I joined Douglas Elliman as I redeployed from my career of 26 years with S&P Municipal Evaluations. In 2016 my group was acquired by ICE Data Services and after we successfully combined the two groups I decided I was ready to give up my daily commute to the City to become a real estate agent. It was a logical move for me as from the time; my wife Cathy and I, moved to Mineola in 1979 from Queens I have always been interested in the real estate market. After our move a number of my siblings and friends decided they wanted to make the same transition to becoming a homeowners here in Nassau. If I went missing on a Saturday or Sunday Cathy was never surprised to learn I had been at an open house, which helped me identify the values and prices of homes in our area. Along with going to open houses I also stayed in touch with the real estate agent Nora Loughran, who assisted us in finding our first home in Mineola. Since our purchase in 1979, I also referred at least 30 + family and friends to her, who ended up moving here and she continues to be a trusted friend.

Throughout my career as a financial analyst and manager I knew that given the opportunity, one day I would like to become a licensed real estate agent. In preparation for this along with open houses in 2015 my brother and I began to invest in the local real estate market. We’ve looked at and bid on a number of properties since then and we’ve successfully purchased and sold three single family homes in the Mineola and Williston Park area. Currently we are working on rehabbing two single family homes in the Mineola area.

Joining Elliman in August 2018; I realized the best way to assist my clients was to work with an experienced and knowledgeable agent whom I found in Maryann Milovcic, and she a talented and experienced agent who has been active in the industry for 20 years. She had shown my brother and I properties as we started our investing and it was clear that her approach was one of a problem solver who loves what she does and she is always working to be of service to her / our clients.

Before I joined S&P I served in the US Navy for 2 years active duty and 4 years reserve duty as a Radioman. When I left the Navy, I spent 10 years and investment manager as I completed my Undergraduate degree in Accounting at St. Francis College and I completed my MBA in Finance at St John’s. Once I completed my studies I worked as an Institutional Municipal Bond Salesmen for 9 years which helped me develop my knowledge of the market, my listening and negotiating skills which I believe serve me well as a registered real estate agent.

Cathy and I were married after she completed her BS in Nursing, and we moved to Mineola in 1979 with our daughter Kathleen as we were expecting our second child, however before we moved into our 3 bedroom home we were surprised and blessed with twin daughters Mary and Bernadette. Two years later we were blessed with a fourth child, our son William. At this point Cathy and I have 12 wonderful grandchildren ranging from age of 1 ½ to 12 years and we are grateful for all of our blessings. Cathy serves as a Nurse Practitioner in a Dialysis Center in Ridgewood Queens and over the years I have seen the passion and joy she brings to her patients.
