John de la Haye became a licensed real estate agent in 2000, at the young age of 22. But his history in the industry reaches back even further than that. The son of Ross and Mary de la Haye, who since 1992 have remained synonymous with luxury residential real estate in the niche coastal marketplace that comprises Huntington Harbour, John actually began passing out fliers with his father before he was old enough to drive. A natural with solid business skills from the very start, he graduated to assistant roles for other agents at First Team Real Estate, working under the guidance of several of the industry’s most respected experts—all before finishing high school.
Today, as the face of Team de la Haye, John brings to the table not only an unwavering commitment to his clientele, but a proven ability to deliver sound guidance and consistent results. Armed with an MBA from Pepperdine University, plus a wealth of experience in the corporate world, having worked for companies large and small, he brings an entrepreneurial edge to his endeavors as a real estate professional—and for his clients, the benefits of this fact are unmistakable.
“My business education, along with my experience leading sales teams at world-class organizations including Microsoft, has granted me the ability to pursue the art of buying and selling property from a unique perspective,” John said. “I’m grateful for the years I spent in the corporate world, because the skills I developed through those experiences are what define me as a real estate agent today.”
The most important of those skills, if you ask John, is his penchant for nurturing lasting relationships that are mutually beneficial.
“Relationships are one of the most critical elements in any business, perhaps even more so in real estate than others,” he said. “Team de la Haye’s entire business is built on relationships—that’s why virtually all of our business stems from repeat and referral clientele. We take a great deal of pride in working closely with our clients throughout every step of the real estate transaction, and we build trust through solid communication, transparency, and accountability.”
Having worked as part-time real estate agent since earning his license—even during his tenure at Microsoft—John is now fully devoted to his career as a real estate professional. And you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone more invested in his local community, which he so fondly serves. Since 9/11, John has been a volunteer Sherriff with the Orange County Sherriff’s department. A past fleet captain of the Huntington Harbour Yacht Club, he’s now the organization’s rear commodore. A member of the Orange County Philharmonic Society, he’s also involved with the Huntington Beach Sailing Foundation, whose aim is to promote the sport of sailing among the area’s youth.
