Buying and selling real estate is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make in your lifetime so make it a wise one.
After two shoulder surgeries ended my professional baseball career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, I decided to get my real estate license at the age of 23 right after purchasing my first home. Little did I know that going through the process myself would transform my entire career.
You might be thinking, how the hell did he go from playing professional baseball to being a real estate agent?
I loved everything about the process... The hunt, the negotiations, and most importantly the investment. My success in baseball was only attributed to my competitive attitude, which I NOW USE TO MY ADVANTAGE IN REAL ESTATE. The fact of owning something, living in it and seeing the value go up only drove me to learn all that I could.
I’ve realized the same things that made me successful as an athlete are the same things that made me successful as an agent.
The Hunt- Buying a house or selling a house is very competitive regardless of the market conditions. Can you get your offer in before the next buyer does? Did you sell your house for more than the last sale in your neighborhood?
At the end of the day my clients get what they want. It’s my job to figure out how to make it happen. For example, I don't wait for something pop up on the MLS like 99% of the Realtors in my market place because that’s just not good enough. I’m going to go door to door until I find it if I have to.
The Negotiations- This is the best part. Can we out negotiate the other side? Real estate negotiations are like batting at the bottom of the ninth and with 2 outs trying to guess what the pitcher has up their sleeve. If you guess right you can hit a home run!
The Investment- At the end of the day it’s about how good of an investment you made. I’m 99% based on referrals so it’s safe to say that my clients believe they made the right decision with their investment. If I did not compete with myself on every deal, I’d strike out in this business.
16 years later, I still love the thrill of being apart of someone’s single largest personal transaction.
Born in Riverside, California my family moved to Chula Vista when I was a young child. I've never left San Diego and will always call it home. I have 3 amazing boys who are my life. Preston is 14, Troy is 12 and Sean 9.
When I'm not working or taxiing my boys around to soccer or baseball, I enjoy golf, racquetball, surfing, live music, Chicago Bears Football, volunteering in youth sports, working out, dinners with friends, being social, and new relationships.
One of the things I enjoyed most about this business is building new relationships. Whether it be at the Little league fields, on the golf course, or new clients I met, I've gained so many important people in my life whom
