John Murtagh

John M. Murtagh emigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1992 and earned his real estate license in 1998. A longtime Abington resident, John lives with his wife Claire, their three children—Daniel, Liam, and Hope—and their yellow Labrador, Jesse. Outside of real estate, John enjoys coaching soccer, playing golf, running, and following all sports. He has proudly completed the Boston Marathon four times.

With nearly three decades of experience, John has successfully guided clients through both strong and challenging markets. After working with larger real estate firms, he recognized the need for a more personal, client-focused approach and founded John M. Murtagh Real Estate in 2011. As a small, family-owned brokerage, the company is built on the belief that every transaction is unique and every client deserves exceptional attention, honesty, and professionalism.

John works closely with a trusted network of local attorneys, mortgage brokers, builders, inspectors, and insurance professionals to ensure each transaction runs smoothly from start to finish. By asking the right questions upfront and using a proven, strategic marketing plan, John and his team minimize surprises and consistently help sellers achieve top dollar for their homes.

Much of John’s business comes from repeat clients and referrals—a true testament to the trust he has built over the years. He looks forward to continuing to provide the same high level of service, care, and results to new clients throughout the South Shore and beyond.
