Prior to starting Sweet Grass Real Estate in the spring of 2021, John was an attorney with Rosen Hagood, LLC in downtown Charleston for ten years, practicing corporate law, including business transactions and litigating commercial disputes for a wide variety of businesses. He practiced law at the McNair Law Firm, P.A. from 2004-2010, focusing on corporate law, commercial real estate and municipal finance. John opened his own law firm, J. Rosen Law, LLC in March of 2020, where he has continued to practice corporate law, acquisitions and mergers of closely held businesses; land use, commercial real estate matters, cell tower matters and related business transactions. John served as a Ninth Circuit delegate to the South Carolina Bar House of Delegates for multiple terms.
As a native Charlestonian, his love of the community and enthusiasm to bring it to others is what motivates him to find a perfect home for those he is honored to represent. John graduated from the Porter-Gaud School. He earned a B.A. degree in American History and a minor in anthropology from the University of Virginia in 1997, a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and a Masters Degree in International Business from the Darla Moore School of Business in 2004.
When John went out on his own in 2020, he knew he was going to found Sweet Grass Real Estate with his soon-to-be wife, Carrie Rosen. John is the Broker-in-Charge and represents buyers and sellers in residential property, and sometimes commercial, real estate transactions. John brings a unique understanding of the local landscape, contractual and legal knowledge, and the intricacies involved in handling important transactions. His easygoing personality and ability to help people make the buying and selling process go as smoothly as possible are a few of the many reasons to hire John if you are looking to buy or sell.
John was a licensed tour guide of the City of Charleston and has a wealth of knowledge about the history of downtown Charleston and surrounding areas. He is also heavily active on the Folly Association of Business litter committee and a member of the Surfrider Foundation.
John provides additional value to his real estate clients given his legal and real estate experience. Since its founding, Sweet Grass Real Estate has become synonymous with high level customer and client service, providing unique local knowledge, advice, and responsiveness.
