About John
John Selman brings his enthusiastic energy, passion for real estate and nuanced understanding of the Valley’s distinct neighborhoods to The Agency Arizona team. Representing buyers and sellers in PV, Arcadia, Scottsdale and across the region, he thrives on finding the ideal home for his clients and enthusiastically showcases homes for sale by calling attention to their best, standout features.
Formerly a member of Coldwell Banker Global Luxury, John grew up around the world, arriving in the Valley from Canada 35 years ago, and began renovating central Phoenix properties during college. John earned his MBA in Marketing from Arizona State University and focused his undergraduate studies on biology and computer science. He continued to pursue advanced coursework while working as an e-marketing and sales executive with stints at IBM, where he was a #1 sales executive, and at start-ups in San Francisco, Dallas, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Atlanta, New York, La Jolla, and Malibu. All those relocations and home searches around the country provided valuable experience, later inspiring John’s transition to a career in real estate.
Throughout his career, John served as an executive education instructor, teaching, practicing, and breathing the consulting sales process alongside the industry’s finest. He honed his luxury-specific marketing skills by repositioning and invigorating the gourmet food and wine shop, Malibu Village Wines, in downtown Malibu. While overseeing an expansion to include a bar and restaurant that would become a global social hub for the wine community, he catered to and advised some of the nation’s wealthiest collectors, and the biggest names in entertainment and business. Through the business, he co-founded the Wine Classic for Child Help charity to give back to the community and help those in need. He also consulted with auction houses, architects, designers, contractors, and real estate agents, designing wine cellars for luxury estates, all skills that transfer seamlessly to his work in real estate.
When not out exploring real estate with his clients, John enjoys and writes about homes, food, and wine. He loves architecture, renovating, grapes, cooking, old cars, and motorcycles. He coaches at Tempe Town Lake, and loves traveling the coast (if a “rugby tour” is not involved), skiing (through the pain), spending time with (most of) his family and friends, and laughing with his large dog, Greer.
