About Jonathan

As an experienced REALTOR®, and a local Wilmingtonian, Jonathan is qualified in guiding you with buying or selling a home. As an Accredited Buyers Representative (or ABR) he knows what it takes to make sure you get the home that you want at a price that is right. He has worked extensively with first time home buyers, and he believes in holding their hands and explaining the whole home buying process step by step to make sure you understand every aspect of the home buying process.
Jonathan will also give you the Barfield & Associates Buyer Guidebook that will also explain the home buying process in detail and give you definitions of key words you will hear throughout the home buying process. As a Graduate of REALTOR® Institute (or GRI) he has attained the knowledge necessary to represent you whether you are buying or selling a home and make sure that you are getting the benefit of the deal. His goal is to find the home you want at a price you can afford or help you to sell your home at the price you want. As a CRS designee, a designation that less than 5% of REALTOR® nationwide hold, he has gained additional knowledge and expertise in many areas of real estate such as business planning, listing strategies, buyer strategies, and marketing. Jonathan has also earned the SRES designation, Seniors Real Estate Specialist. By earning the SRES designation, your REALTOR® has demonstrated necessary knowledge and expertise to counsel senior clients through major financial and lifestyle transitions involved in relocating, refinancing, or selling the family home. Your REALTOR® has received special training, gets regular updates, and is prepared to offer the options and information needed in making life changing decisions.

Commissioner Jonathan Barfield, Jr. has been a resident of New Hanover County since age one and graduated from New Hanover High School in 1984. He is a veteran of the US Navy and is the owner of Barfield & Associates Realty, LLC. He has been a licensed Realtor since 1997 and served as president of the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors in 2007. Commissioner Barfield is married to Laura Renita Barfield, and they have four daughters. His favorite pastimes are reading and golf.

Jonathan is the best reallator I have ever worked with bar none. Start to final payout this the best experience i have had selling a house. I worked for IBM, my job involved moving many times so i have worked with many realatos. Jonathan was the easiest, and always available. His knowledge and explanation of the process and daunting paperwork make the sale go very smoothly. You can't go wrong choosing this man. Start to finish he is on top of the the job. If I ever came back to Wilmington I would seek him out to handle my needs.

There are many realtors in Wilmington, and then there is Jonathan Barfield! Jonathan sets a new bar for delivering a stressfree selling or buying experience. He sat with us and answered all our questions, quietly got all the paperwork in place, and set our mind at ease at each step. Can not say enough about his knowledge and expertise. We did a lot of research when looking for an agent and sought Jonathan out for his certified SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist) credential. Our overall experience with Jonathan was exemplary and highly recommend him for your real estate needs. Thanks Jonathan!!!

Jonathan Barfield Jr was extremely helpful with the sale of a home held in trust. I live out of town and Jonathan knew the Wilmington market cycle. He counseled me on when to list the house to maximize the beginning of spring sale season. He provided comps for the area and helped determine which offers were fair. Jonathan had contractor resources to help with repairs as needed. He maintained a calm demeanor when I was to tired to think straight. He made sure I knew of any important documents requiring signature, and helped facilitate legal papers needed for sale of home. Jonathan made this experience so positive and easy. I would recommend him. He can be trusted to get the job done!
