Working with Jones to find our dream home was the perfect fit. His expert knowledge of not only real estate, but also of the lending side was an added bonus. Prologue
The kids moved out for the last time, and we faced the inevitability of downsizing from our 5600 square foot home to something more manageable. We interviewed several real estate agents. Their focus was mostly on what was wrong with our home and what they would have to change to sell it. None of them really appreciated our beautiful home…

Set Up
Then we found Jones Black and Beth Billington ……

As soon as we opened the door, we knew this was it! Jones and Beth appreciated the spaciousness of the home, the attention to detail, the multitude of upgrades, the Japanese landscaping, and the quality workmanship. They brought a wealth of experience, a professional team of experts, world class marketing, simple and effective staging, and perfect photography. The best part was that they saw our home as nearly complete, without the need to bend it to “fit the market.” For example, only a few staging items were added to the bedrooms—everything else was just us.

They went to work right away, getting our house onto the market in only 5 weeks. Jones used his construction background to assess the structural features of the home, his banking knowledge to understand the value of our home, and his real estate experience to gauge the appeal and marketing strategy. He used the incredible track record of the Billington team in high-end home sales and the power of Coldwell Banker Bain to position our home at the top of the market.

Jones and Beth did a thorough evaluation of the estate home market, including properties throughout the Seattle area (not just our local neighborhood). This determined and substantiated our house value at $300,000 more than the estimates of other real estate agents.

On the Market
Then, Jones engaged his personal skills to finding the right buyer for the house. His impeccable personable style enabled him to form real relationships with each potential buyer. He was the one at the open houses (he did not delegate “coverage” by outside agents), so he knew each of the buyers by name and interest. His knowledge of construction meant solid answers to technical questions and clear explanations of how things worked. His banking knowledge real estate experience provided in depth assessment of the value features of the house, the relative values of comparable homes, and the advantages of our neighborhood for business, schools, and proximity to services.

Jones turned our list of upgrades and remodels into an attractive brochure, which showed features beyond what one would find in new-construction homes, even those by the high-end builders. Jones showed each potential buyer in detail why our home was a sound investment, simply but elegantly appointed, and ready to enjoy. He invited potential buyers to see the house and landscaping at night. He met their every question and concern with clarity and honesty.

Follow-through
As in baseball, a house sale “isn’t over ‘til it’s over.” Jones continued to be instrumental in facilitating the sale and transition.
