About Joseph
Joe Samuels was born in Charlottesville and, after graduating Hampden-Sydney College, joined his father in real estate sales and the business started by his grandfather in 1913.
The Samuels family has long been practitioners and advocates of local agriculture and farmland protection. In keeping with that tradition, Joe was a founding member and former Vice-Chair of the Albemarle County Acquisition of Conservation Easements (ACE) program providing local farmers opportunities to protect their farms and livelihood. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Equine Land Conservation Resource, (ELCR) devoted to the preservation of land for equestrian activities. Joe has served on the Board of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation and now serves on the Board of WorkSource Enterprises providing employment assistance for those with disabilities. Joe has served on the Board of Directors of the Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors. As a member of the Whitehall Ruritan Club, Joe served in many capacities including President. As a member of St. Paul’s Memorial Church Joe served on the Vestry. Through a conservation easement Joe and his wife, Owie, have protected in perpetuity their Long Ridge Farm in Albemarle County.
