Kathy spent her childhood looking at properties with her dad, learning the art of the deal. They called it “Super Snooping.” His motto was, “Buy that dirt and raise the price!” It is rumored that he traded truckloads of gravel for fifty cheap lots in Rio Del Mar during the Depression. When she was in high school, in the sixties, he owned ten acres on the bluff above Manresa Beach. Real estate transactions have always been part of her life. In 1977 she decided to try her brain at being A Realtor. Her plan was to sell real estate until she figured out what she was going to do when she grew up. Several times she considered other possibilities: nursing, teaching, being an attorney. She is good at contracts, want people to be well informed and like to help people. Here she is forty years later having fun problem solving for buyers, sellers, and investors. She takes pride in making escrows easy for you! She is bought, sold, exchanged, remodeled houses and managed rentals. An architecture groupie, in 1995, she built her home which she helped create. It appeared in four national magazines and received an Honorable Mention in Metropolitan Home magazine’s “Home of the Year” competition. Her interest in the arts has led to a museum quality collection of work by local artists. Many of her pieces are on display at the downtown Santa Cruz Community Health Center because she is run out of wall space at home. You are welcome to visit and view them. She believes in contributing to her community and has served on many nonprofit boards including Tandy Beal’s Dance Troupe, Community Bridges, Above the Line and currently Senior Legal Services. She helps support Survivors Healing Center, Save Our Shores, Second Harvest Food Bank, and several other nonprofits. Her purpose is to do what she can to make our world better and to enjoy life in this beautiful place!
