Real Estate Professional in Norwell, MA, serving the South Shore from Quincy to the Cape In many ways during the past two years, their entire way of life has changed. Things that had been less important became very important and many things that seemed of great importance became less so. The idea of "home" and feeling comfortable in the spaces we live in rose to the top of the list for many people. At the same time finding a new home became more difficult due to low inventory in the real estate market. Multiple buyers bid on the same home, and many were left disappointed when their offer was not chosen. There were additional factors which made buying a home difficult in the past two years. Covid brought supply chain issues which caused delays in making repairs and in new construction builds. All these joint factors have caused added stress and worry to the home buying process. On the seller side, 2020 & 2021 were banner years. Homes sold for much higher prices than they had in many years and the year over year increase in equity helped many to do projects on their homes. Sellers did worry though that when they sold their home, they would have trouble finding a new place to live since they were also competing with the low inventory on the buy side. What's next for the real estate market? Will home prices continue to rise? Will rising interest rates affect what type of home a buyer can purchase? Some of these questions remain unanswered and some of them can be speculated on due to past trends.
