You can't beat Kay Houghton and Associates if you are buying or selling in Fairlington, they are simply the best in the area. We just sold our Clarendon Model Townhome with them. Highlights of their service include, 1 - They've got the largest presence and insight in Fairlington, buying or selling, 2 - The team lives in Fairlington, it wasn't uncommon to see them 2-3 times a week, 3 - They are a 'Full Service' realtor, they took care of our furniture staging and arranged for a contractor to work on our home, 4 - They are consultative and communicative, during every step of the process and most importantly, 5 - A pleasure to work with.

Kerry was an amazing realtor! My fiancé and I met her at an open house, and while we had recommendations for other realtors our friends had used, we decided to “take a chance” and use Kerry with no recommendations. We had a consultation call where she basically did a first time home buyers 101 course and just had a good feeling that she would be the perfect fit for a realtor and we were right. I had initially reached out to the team when I was in the very early stages of thinking about buying a condo. Kerry answered all my questions, was extremely responsive, and always willing to help.

When it came time to actually look at places, Kerry was quick and flexible to fit into my schedule. She had a tremendous amount of knowledge about each neighborhood, each unit, and each HOA.

Kay and her team recently guided me through my first home buying experience. As it was my first time working with a realtor, I wasn't sure what to expect, but Kay and her team were vey professional and helped me to understand and complete each step. Kay herself is very personable and friendly and immediately made me feel at ease. She was the only team member that I worked with in person, but I coordinated with several others via email to fill out paperwork and everyone was very responsive and helpful. Although I bought my home from Kay, I did not employ her company, my landlord, who was selling my unit did, and I felt that Kay treated me the same way she would have if I had employed her team. She advocated for me and celebrated my closing with a large gift basket. She also shared with me the names of reputable companies to work with for estimates and contractors. When I had questions about my home inspection, my HOA, my HVAC, she took care of them immediately. I saw the before and after her team did when she remodeled the unit across the hall from me and it looked amazing, like an entirely new place! If I am fortunate enough to buy a home in the area again I will definitely call Kay and will recommend her to anyone else I know as well!

My husband and I used Kay Houghton to both sell our condo and buy a new house. We chose Kay because we knew that she was extremely familiar with our current neighborhood. We've been seeing her signage around the neighborhood for years, and my husband even attended two seminars that Kay put on for new buyers and sellers.

Buying or selling a home is an arduous and stressful process. Doing both at the same time is even harder. What was great about working with Kay and her team was that during every single step of the buying/selling process, we felt taken care of. At no point did we feel like we were on our own. If Kay wasn't available, someone else from her team was there immediately. Everyone is incredibly knowledgeable and we felt comfortable no matter who were were speaking with.

Kay helped us with everything from initial planning to staging to picking the right price to marketing materials to the financing to the closing process to answering all of our questions, and even acting as our reality psychologist. This happened during COVID, during snowstorms, during an insurrection, during an election year. There were times that we were so anxious but after speaking with Kay on the phone, our stresses were immediately put at ease.

Kay also helped us buy our new home. Even though we chose a new build, having an experience realtor (shout out to Kerry!) with us was instrumental in the buying process. Kerry helped us save money by going over our contracts, meeting with the builders, and offering the best suggestions with our needs in mind.

We have nothing but wonderful things to say about Kay, Kerry, Yolanda, Chris, and the entire team! If you live in the Shirlington/Fairlington area of Arlington and you don't use Kay, you're going to be at a disadvantage. Simply put: She's the best!

Kay got the highest recorded sales price for my Fairfax plan townhouse in Heatherlea of Arlington. This was done through market appropriate improvements, optimal pricing, and a 21st Century marketing approach. The unit received two offers on the first day of showing and I was able to close in twenty days.

Chris Collier deserves special praise for his effort, from providing input on improvement approaches and material selections through coordinating all improvement activities. I am very grateful for his ability to juggle last minute material substitutions and coordinate all involved parties: material suppliers, contractors, and Heatherlea’s management company. Without his presence and the last minute expediting of needed approvals the day before closing, the sale could not have closed in twenty days.

As the seller, my participation was as I wanted it, hands off and conducted at a distance. I was presented with options for marketing approaches and physical improvements (with a quoted cost). All I had to do was give my approval and pay the invoices, either by check or PayPal.
